[Peace News] Why CCK (Christian Council of Korea) Must be Shutdown?
Press Conference and Rally to Call for the Shutdown of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK), an Anti-Nation, Anti-Society, Anti-Religion, and Anti-Peace Organization
On the 27th of January 2019 11:00 am (GMT +9), in St.Sejong, Gwanghwa Gate, Seoul, the 'Press Conference and Rally Calling for the Shut Down of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK), an Anti-Nation, Anti-Society, Anti-Religion, and Anti-Peace Organization' was co-hosted by Global Citizens Human Rights Coalition and 100 religious, peace, human rights and civil organizations calling for the shutdown of the Christian Council of Korea.

Why did they rally against CCK? They wanted :
-Disbandment of CCK
-Legal punishment for CCK and its coercive conversion pastors
-Prohibition on the coercive conversion program
Then, you may ask, why do they want the disbandment of the CCK, legal punishment for CCK and its coercive conversion pastors and prohibition on its coercive conversion program?
1. Religious discrimination and violation of human rights

CCK (Christian Council of Korea) and its pastors have been carrying out coercive conversion programs which converts the religion of a person belonging to any denomination or church identified as a cult or heretical by CCK, through means of force, violence and intimidation by manipulating victims' family, thereby evading legal punishment.
According to the UN's human rights declaration and Korean constitutional law, every person in the world has the right to believe in whatever religion that they wish and trying to change their religion through force is unacceptable behavior which must be prohibited.
However, CCK, a so-called 'orthodox Korean Christian organization', and its pastors are manipulating victim's family into using violence, imprisonment and threats to convert the victim's religion. Moreover, there were 2 murder cases involving women who had resisted the coercive conversion program in 2007 and 2018.
How can we call the CCK a religious and orthodox Christian organization while it commits illegal and merciless crimes that violate human rights?
CCK and its pastors must cease such inhumane behavior that threatens world peace and human rights immediately; otherwise it must disband.

1. Religious discrimination happens around the world and it can happen to you. You cannot be sure that it will never happen to you or your country.
2. Religious crimes and terror influence other countries and threaten world peace (violation of human rights is not only a Korean issue). Think about the holocaust and religious conflicts, for example.

Then, how can we stop religious discrimination and protect our human rights from any group like CCK and coercive conversion?
We have to be united as one to make the world right.
