[IPYG] IPYG Goes Sikh -IPYG Members' Experience of Sikhism-

Today we live in a world of religious diversity and freedom alongside countless religious conflicts. As much as tolerance towards religions has grown, so has hostility. According to statistics, it is an undeniable fact that 80% of conflicts and wars are caused by religious conflicts, which means that the achievement of peace between religions is critical for world peace.

Meanwhile, on Oct 26th 2019, IPYG - International Peace Youth Group; a youth Peace NGO under 'Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light' (HWPL; Chairman Man Hee Lee) - hosted their 'Religious Experience Camp' at the Sikh Temple in Pocheon, Gyeonggi province, Republic of Korea (South Korea) to raise awareness of the need for peace among religions to religious people and civil society.

IPYG has been carrying out its global "Legislate Peace" campaign since 2013, together with HWPL and IWPG (International Women's Peace Group), to urge global heads of state to support the DPCW (Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War. This international law consists of 10 articles and 38 clauses to achieve world peace and was proclaimed in 2016 by HWPL to spread a culture of peace.

IPYG members visited the Sikh temple and were educated on courtesy, service, table manners etc. This began with wearing a bandanna, taking off socks and washing one's hands. Then they learned Sikh greetings, served, cooked chapati and curry, and watched a traditional Sikh martial arts performance.

IPYG also hosted its WARP Office Interfaith Dialogue on discussion of the theme 'Is Religious Peace compulsory for world peace?' A panels of Christian and Sikh speakers all answered 'Yes'. The Sikh panel said "In Sikhism, we teach that people have to live like brothers and sisters of same parents. If we keep follow the way of HWPL's campaign then the world peace will definitely come true."

All participants appreciated the welcome and kindness of Sikh members, and wished for world peace to be achieved in the near future.

As a member of HWPL Supporters ONE, I think that more and more religious experience camps should be hosted in order to understand and tolerate another's religions and prevent conflict and war in the world. People need to talk, discuss and understand one another; not shoot, bomb or kill one another because of religion.

I'm so sure that HWPL, IWPG and IPYG's "Legislate Peace" Project will eventually make world peace :)

Peace!
