[HWPL] HWPL's 26th Peace Tour: "Peace with HWPL"

Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) hosted the 'Religious Leaders' Conference' at the Yangon International Business Center in Myanmar on February 1st 2018. HWPL Chairman Man-hee Lee (center left) and Tanieng YMCA Director together held a scroll that read, 'Declaration of Religious People for Peace'.

Chairman Man-Hee Lee spoke at the Hindu Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Malaysia on January 30th 2018 and called for cooperation for peace.

The peace tour of HWPL's Chairman Man-hee Lee and the peace delegation had continued until the 25th tour, bearing fruits of practical steps of peace that is challenging for any private organization to achieve.

During the 26th~28th peace tours, all their historical achievements were gathered as empirical data into a book of peace entitled, ‘The True Story of HWPL: Peace and Cessation of War’. This book has been presented as a way and alternative to world peace that everyone desires, but no one could achieve.

Across Southeast Asia, HWPL's appeal to end wars and achieve peace as a permanent legacy for future generations received fervent support, with interest expressed for HWPL peace education. 127 schools signed MOAs and MOUs to implement HWPL's 'Peace Education'.

Heads of state, including former presidents of Eastern Europe, joined hands with HWPL for the adoption of the DPCW as international law at the United Nations, for the cessation of war and peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula.

At the UN Headquarters in the United States, ambassadors from 145 countries empathised with the need for peace and expressed their support for the DPCW. The drive for peace was sensed by the global community.

Chairman Man-hee Lee and the peace delegation toured four Southeast Asian countries, including the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Myanmar, for ten days from January 23rd to February 2nd 2018. This tour was made in response to the continual request of local officials who have been actively participating in the HWPL Peace Walk since the World Peace Summit was hosted by HWPL in 2014.

Firstly, on January 29th, HWPL signed an MOU with Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta (UIN; Rector Dede Rosyada), Indonesia, designating it a ‘Peace Academy’. 

The signing ceremony was held at UIN on that day, with the attendance of UIN Rector Dede Rosyada, Alauddin Makassar, and Muhammadiyah Middle and High School Student Association representatives. On that day, UIN appointed HWPL Chairman Man-hee Lee as Honorary President of UIN Peace Academy

On January 29th 2018, the Peace Academy MOU was signed at the Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta (UIN) in Indonesia

Prior, on the 23rd of the same month, HWPL signed an MOA for 'Peace Education' with the Philippines Higher Education Commission (CHED). As an educational institution of the Philippine government, the Higher Education Commission signed an MOA that day to implement peace education material and textbook established by HWPL within the local education system in earnest.

Dr. Ronald Adamat, a member of the Higher Education Commission, who first proposed the MOA to HWPL, said, “Promoting peace education through the CHED will affect many Philippine educational institutions and play a crucial role in promoting peace in the Philippines.” He also expressed high hopes for peace education.

At that time, a total of 127 schools in 9 countries including the Philippines, Israel and India signed an MOA or MOU for HWPL Peace Education.

Chairman Man-hee Lee had a conversation with Senate Speaker Oesman Sapta at the People's Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia on January 29th 2018

On February 1st, the ‘Religious Leaders' Conference’ was held at the Yangon International Business Center in Myanmar. About 500 participants, including religious leaders representing Protestantism, Buddhism, Islam and Hinduism, attended.

With the support of YMCA General Secretary Yin Thanien, religious leaders declared that they would unite religions based on the truth of the scriptures, and support the enactment of the 10 Articles and 38 Clauses of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) as international law.

Prior to this, on January 31st, the ‘Conference for Interfaith Harmony’ was held at the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with about 120 religious leaders and believers of the Hindu, Muslims, Buddhist, Sikh and Taoist faiths in attendance. In Manila, Philippines, on the 26th of that month, a WARP Office interfaith dialogue was held at the to urge religious leaders to engage in peaceful activities.

About 1,300 students of the University of Makati and Christian, Islamic and Hindu faith leaders participated in the event.

In particular, at the religious conference held during HWPL's 26th overseas tour, religious leaders from each country issued a formal statement to guarantee religious freedom and human rights and urged it.

Local religious people showed interest in the death of a woman in her 20s who was undergoing a forced conversion program in Hwasun, South Jeolla Province, in January of that same year.

High Priest Acharya Prem Shankaranand Tirth, a Hindu leader in the Philippines, said, “I would like to ask what kind of God the religious leader who attempts to force religious conversion believes in and what doctrine he is practicing. Rather, we should work together in harmony and do good in society.”

Philippines PTV conducted an interview with the HWPL Peace Delegation in Manila, January 24th 2018

Chairman Man-hee Lee and his peace delegation appeared on a morning broadcast of Philippine state-run PTV, as well as state-run broadcasts by visiting countries, to appeal for support for the enactment of the DPCW as international law and unificiation of religious activity.

In Jakarta, Indonesia, the national news agency Antara reported heavily on the activities of the peace mission led by Man-hee Lee. Malaysia's state-run news agency BNC (formerly Bernama TV) had an exclusive interview with Chairman Lee at the VE Hotel. In Myanmar, MITV, a state-run English broadcasting channel owned by the Ministry of Information, held an exclusive interview and assigned weekend prime-time to highlight the movement towards peace.
