[HWPL] The 4th Annual Commemoration of the WARP Summit: Global 'Peace Festival' held in Korea

The inter-Korean summit was held in Pyongyang on September 18th 2018, when the world's attention was focused on the Korean peninsula. With a heightened atmosphere for peace, the steps of people from all over the world were guided to the Republic of Korea for the cause of world peace.

'The 4th Annual Commemoration of the 9.18 WARP Summit' was hosted by the international peace NGO, 'Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL)' (Chairman Man-Hee Lee) to urge for global support of the 'Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW)', which holds the key to the unification of the Korean Peninsula and achievement of world peace. About 600 top-level leaders from 110 countries, including former and incumbent presidents, prime ministers, and government officials, participated in the event to discuss ways of attaining peace, and urged for it.

To commemorate the 4th Annual Commemoration of the WARP Summit, members of the Baltic Black Sea Council, consisting of former and incumbent presidents of Eastern European countries including Poland, Romania and Ukraine, gathered at the HWPL Goseong Peace Conference on September 16th to discuss world peace. HWPL and the Baltic Black Sea Council held the “Goseong Peace Talks” to discuss ways of cooperating for enactment of the DPCW into binding law. As a result, the Goseong Agreement and an MOU were signed. Through this agreement, the two organizations pledged to urge the incumbent presidents of each country to support the DPCW at a national level.

The DPCW stands for the 10 articles and 38 clauses of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War, drafted jointly by HWPL and leading global legal experts. This bill contains content that fundamentally prohibits the act of war.

In addition to the participation of leading global dignitaries, about 2,000 people from the legal, academic, religious, women's and youth sectors took part in the 4th Annual Commemoration on the 17th and 19th of the same month under the theme, 'Collaboration for Peace Development: Building a Peace Community through the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW)'. Practical plans for realising peace were secured through open-class discussions.

The ceremonial celebrations of the 4th Annual Commemoration consisted of a large-scale 'peace festival' where people from all over the world gathered and participated. The main event, held at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium, was simultaneously translated into 21 languages and broadcast live from 123 cities and 40 countries, including Korea. In Korea, citizens from 11 major cities including Seoul, where the Declaration of World Peace was first proclaimed, as well as Gwangju, Daegu, Busan and Jeju enthusiastically participated in this movement for peace that was simultaneously broadcast.

At the event, HWPL Chairman Man-Hee Lee declared that the DPCW is “the answer to ending war and achieving peace” and declared, “It will end war in the global village and achieve eternal peace, which will be an eternal legacy for future generations.”

At the 4th Annual Commemoration ceremony of the WARP Summit, former and incumbent presidents from around the world expressed their fervent support for the DPCW and Chairman Lee's movement for peace.

Former Romanian President Emil Constantinescu spoke about Chairman Lee's dedicated world peace activities, saying, "While traveling the world several times, he personally held talks with leaders of each country, religious leaders, university deans, and parliamentarians to conduct cultural diplomacy. It is a great honor to be participating in this process towards such a noble goal.”

On September 16th 2018, the '6th HWPL International Law Peace Committee Meeting' was held with heads of states of Eastern Europe at the Goseong Peace Conference in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi province

Former Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko said, "I was deeply impressed to see the DPCW with its refined and profound wisdom." He added, “The declaration contains the content that will be the basis of world peace.” He emphasized, “I believe that peace is approaching everyday due to the indefinite activities of Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL and his organization, as well as the genuine desire of millions of people.”

Former President of Guyana, Donald Ramotar said, "For those who live day by day in the midst of war, a life without conflict will be like a dream.”

Religious leaders also took part in Chairman Lee's peace walk at the 4th Annual Commemoration. 260 religious leaders from over 40 countries attended the 'High-Level Religious Leaders’ Conference for Alliance of Religions' at the Ramada Hotel in Songdo, Incheon on the 19th of the same month, where they discussed the role of religion for attaining peace.

On the same day, the '2018 Conference for the Implementation of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War' was held, where roughly 600 people including global dignitaries, religious leaders, media, and NGO heads of each country filled the conference room with a common goal being the enactment of the DPCW as international law by the international community. It clearly proved to be a topic of discussion.

The former President of Croatia, Stjepan Mesić, delivered a speech, saying, "The role of HWPL is more important today than ever.”

At the '2018 Worldwide Women’s Peace Conference' hosted by International Women's Peace Group (IWPG) at the Ramada Hotel in Songdo, Incheon, the 'IWPG First Ladies' Peace Network' campaign was launched to urge the 3.6 billion women of the global village to work towards a world of peace. About 400 women leaders of all nationalities and ethnicities gathered at the conference.

Former First Lady of Croatia, Tatjana Josipović, said, “The DPCW was drafted by prominent international law experts and published in the Republic of Korea, and is supported by leaders around the world. If the DPCW can be recognized as an internationally binding law, then new ethics order will be established between international law and a country.”

Journalists also joined in Chairman Lee's movement for world peace. In particular, at the ‘2nd Conference for Global Peace Media Network’, held at Ramada Hotel in Songdo, Incheon on the 19th, an MOU signing ceremony (business agreement) was held between Chairman Lee and 13 media companies from countries including Nigeria, Myanmar and Rwanda.

The MOU includes ▲establishing a platform to supply and share peace-related news with the world ▲international cooperation to increase public awareness of peace ▲understanding of the purpose of the media ▲dissemination of content about peace, rather than conflict ▲formation of a peace press, and more.

Chairman Lee said, “No power or material possession can become a legacy for the next generation. We must create a world of freedom, peace and love without war, and make it an eternal legacy for our descendants."  He emphasized, “Everyone in the global village must come together for peace, which is impossible without the media. Journalists should frequently report on the work of peace and usher in a new era of world peace.”
