[HWPL] HWPL Peace Tours of Man-hee Lee (6): Conflict-ridden Africa Finds Hope in ‘Heavenly Culture’

On December 15, 2012, Shincheonji Chairman Man-Hee Lee delivers the Word at an Open Bible Seminar held at Cape Town City Hall. About 700 pastors and believers from South Africa and neighbouring countries attended the seminar, and it was a great success, with 225 people registering for follow-up Bible study on the spot
The 3rd Peace Tour conducted by Man-hee Lee in his capacity as Chairman of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji) was held in Africa. This 3rd Peace Tour, which was conducted in response to an invitation by African leaders and pastors who had attended the ‘WARP Summit’ hosted by Shincheonji Church of Jesus in 2012, left a strong message of peace that resounded throughout the African nations. Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) was yet to be established, and so the 3rd Peace Walk was conducted by Man-hee Lee in his capacity as Chairman of Shincheonji.

Chairman Lee and the peace delegation visited Ethiopia and South Africa during the 3rd Peace Tour. In response to Chairman Lee's appeal for support, the leaders of both countries pledged their cooperation and signed in support of the enactment of an international law for the cessation of war and world peace.

The arrival of Chairman Lee in South Africa garnered much attention and hospitality from local pastors. Pastors from Atlantis, Cape Town and throughout South Africa adjusted their schedules to attend the lecture delivered by Chairman Lee. The lecture included a Q&A session and a 3-hour message proclaimed by Chairman Lee on his feet, awakening the minds and hearts of the people of South Africa.

Pastor Brown Hanekom of the Dutch Reformed Church in South Africa, who is responsible for 350,000 members, and Pastor Graham Power, who leads a prayer movement with 40 million members, requested a separate meeting with Chairman Lee.

Chairman Lee also attended the breakfast prayer meeting held every Saturday at the National Assembly of South Africa, and delivered his message. Pastor Barry Eisigs, who hosted the event, emphasized, “This is something that even world leaders need to hear.”

The Open Bible Seminar held at Cape Town City Hall was a great success, with about 700 pastors and believers from South Africa and neighbouring countries in attendance. 225 people registered for follow-up Bible study on the spot.

The main content of the seminar was focused on the fulfillment of the Book of Revelation from the 1st to the 22nd chapters, but Chairman Lee also preached on the Old and New Testaments of the Bible.

Pastor Lawrence Gabi, who attended the seminar, said, "We (a member of the pastoral group) have already decided to join him." Another attendee, Pastor Myles, said of Chairman Lee, "You can see that God has raised him for these last days," and "You can see that he has come with a message to tell us today."

In addition, Chairman Lee visited a memorial park to commemorate 20 Ethiopian veterans who had sacrificed their lives for peace and freedom as a UN force in the Korean War, and he dedicated flowers and gifts.

African leaders paid close attention to Chairman Lee's lecture incorporating a message on the great value of 'Heavenly Culture' that transcends national interests and which Chairman Lee presented as the material necessary for constructing a world of peace.

In previous WARP Summits, which is a festival of people from all over the world coming together, Chairman Lee sublimates such messages through mass games, card sections, and various cultural performances. The excitement among participants at the WARP Summit served as an opportunity to advance Chairman Lee's third peace tour.

On December 8, 2012, Chairman Lee was invited to the National Assembly Prayer Breakfast and Meeting held every Saturday at the National Assembly of South Africa. He addresses the audience from the Speakers Chair

Chairman Lee recorded the contents of the WARP Summit in a video and showed it to those he met during his African tour. It became evidence of his role as a leader in the construction of world peace. The reason he chose Ethiopia as the first destination of the tour to Africa was because of the earnest request of the Special Advisor to Ethiopia who had attended the WARP Summit: Assefa Kesito. Mr. Kesito, who was dispatched from Ethiopia as a special envoy to the WARP Summit, arranged the meeting between Chairman Lee and President Girma Wolde-Giorgis of Ethiopia, saying that Chairman Lee should meet the president to instil hope in Ethiopia. This led to a private meeting between Chairman Lee and President Wolde-Giorgis on December 3, 2012. At that meeting, Chairman Lee said to President Giorgis, “I hope that the world will achieve peace and freedom, and that you will join us in the march towards world peace” and he asked for support and cooperation for the unification of the Korean Peninsula. In response, President Wolde-Giorgis expressed his intention to cooperate, saying, “If Chairman Lee continues to work for world peace, unification will certainly be achieved.”

After moving to South Africa, Chairman Lee was invited to the presidential residence on December 14 where he had a meeting with the President of South Africa Jacob Zuma. The President of South Africa also expressed his willingness to participate in Chairman Lee's peace movement.
