[HWPL] HWPL's DPCW Event in Congo!
HWPL Held the 8th Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
On March 14, 2024, HWPL held the 8th Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) in Masina, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The ceremony began with congratulatory remarks by Alexandre Cilambu Mbuyi, assistant to the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It was broadcast live by major media outlets, including RTNC, the largest national broadcaster in the country.
Since proclaiming the DPCW in 2016, HWPL has held a commemorative ceremony every year to promote the institutionalization of peace. This 8th-anniversary ceremony held in the Democratic Republic of the Congo was an opportunity for HWPL, a peace organization, to introduce the DPCW to civil society organizations and gain support for peace work.
Seraphine Kilubu Kutuna, Deputy Minister of Transport in the Democratic Republic of Congo, provided a special venue for the ceremony and helped to host the event. The Congo Peace Group (CPG), an NGO headed by Deputy Minister Kutuna, is a large organization with approximately 100,000 members. It was a meaningful event that included executives and members of CPG organizations to create a cooperative relationship with HWPL in future peace activities.
In particular, while watching the video of ‘HWPL’s 8th Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War’ in Korea, civil society members who attended were moved and applauded HWPL’s peace activities since the DPCW was enacted. Next, they watched videos of HWPL’s peace activities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Those in attendance expressed their gratitude to HWPL members who have sincerely worked to bring peace to the country..
During the ceremony, a congratulatory message from Deputy Transport Minister Seraphine Kilubu Kutuna was delivered on her behalf by her research assistant, Alexandre Cilambu Mbuyi. Having attended 2023 September 18th HWPL World Peace Summit, he introduced HWPL by saying, “I saw that HWPL is the only peace NGO in the world that works with practical answers to the cessation of war and achieving peace, not just words.” He also encouraged CPG group members to actively participate by becoming members of HWPL and taking the next step toward achieving peace.
The broadcast and media outlets of the Democratic Republic of the Congo quickly reported the news of HWPL’s peace activities to more people so that citizens can achieve global peace together. At the end of the event, all attendees decided to become messengers of peace by signing up as members of HWPL. Hopefully, more news of peace works and activities will be delivered from the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the future.
